Hotel revenue management consulting is an independent review followed by a plan. I look at 12 to 24 months of your own data, shop your comp set, and find where rates, restrictions or channels are costing you money. Unlike outsourcing, I do not make your daily decisions; your team does, with a better plan.
This is my view of Durango. Durango has two real seasons, summer railroad and rafting, and winter skiing at Purgatory, with events like the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic and Snowdown adding spikes. Summer visitors stay a few nights in town, ski guests want easy mountain access. I price the two seasons on separate curves and fill mud season with longer stays.
With Durango owners I spend real time on the permit question, then on how the home splits between the railroad summer and the Purgatory winter. Together we set targets for each season, plan the Iron Horse, Snowdown and Polar Express dates, and decide how to handle the long spring lull.
The service in general is described on my hotel revenue management consulting page; this page covers how I apply it in Durango.
