Hotel revenue management consulting is an independent review followed by a plan. I look at 12 to 24 months of your own data, shop your comp set, and find where rates, restrictions or channels are costing you money. Unlike outsourcing, I do not make your daily decisions; your team does, with a better plan.
This is my view of Birmingham, UK. Birmingham is exhibitions and events. NEC and ICC shows fill midweeks, and concerts, the Frankfurt Christmas Market and football fill weekends. Many guests come for one exhibition, so I price from the NEC calendar. The NEC is outside the city centre, so homes near the airport and the exhibition centre behave differently from city-centre flats. I price the two locations on separate comps.
For a Birmingham owner I decide first whether the home is an NEC property or a city property, then build pricing from that calendar. We set exhibition, concert and match premiums, weekday corporate rates and winter floors, so the home is priced for the guests who actually stay there.
The service in general is described on my hotel revenue management consulting page; this page covers how I apply it in Birmingham, UK.
