Overview

What is Trip.com optimization for hotels in Mallorca?

Trip.com optimization for hotels is the work I do to make a property rank, convert and price correctly on Trip.com. I adapt your content for the Chinese and Asian traveler, set up promotions and flash sales, and manage the service signals Trip.com scores.

What I plan around in Mallorca: Summer beach and villa season; Cycling training camps in spring; German and British holiday calendars; Palma city breaks and sailing. Guests I price for: German, British and Scandinavian families on 7 to 14 night villa stays, cyclists in spring. Where I start: Weekly villa pricing with fixed turnover days, shoulder-season cycling demand, and ETV licence compliance.

Mallorca sells mostly through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and FeWo-direkt. For Mallorca hotels, my years in five-star chains help with balancing tour-operator contracts from Germany and the UK against direct bookings, pricing cycling packages for the spring, and choosing a comp set by resort area rather than for the island as a whole.

The service in general is described on my trip.com optimization page; this page covers how I apply it in Mallorca.

Consultant's view

Alaa's take on Mallorca

“Mallorca is a villa island with German, British and Scandinavian families booking weeks in summer and cyclists filling spring. Villas usually turn over on fixed days. ETV licences are required, and Palma bans new tourist rentals in apartments. I price summer villa weeks and build the cycling shoulder.”

Alaa Elhadi, revenue management consultant. Cornell certified, 18 years in hotel and short-term rental revenue.

How I price it

My Mallorca calendar, and what I do in each period

  1. November to JanuaryLow

Many coastal resorts close and flights thin. I keep Palma flats open for city breaks and Christmas markets, and quote villas only on longer stays at a protected winter floor.

  2. February to MarchShoulder

Almond blossom and the first cycling camps arrive. I open shorter stays for riders and walkers in the Tramuntana and keep prices modest while the sea is still cold.

  3. April to MayHigh

Cycling peaks with events such as the Mallorca 312, and the Palma boat show fills the city. I price those dates up and allow four to five night stays.

  4. JuneHigh

Families from northern Europe start their holidays before school calendars fully align. I move villas onto weekly stays and raise rates week by week towards July.

  5. July to AugustPeak

Every villa and beach flat is in demand. I hold the top of my range, keep fixed Saturday changeovers and refuse short gaps that cost a cleaning crew a full day.

  6. September to OctoberHigh

Warm water and calmer beaches bring couples and riders back. I relax villas to five or seven nights and price the October school holidays from Germany as a small premium.

Where I price differently in Mallorca

Palma and Santa Catalina
City breaks, restaurants and the boat show keep Palma busy most of the year. I price licensed homes as urban premium stays and protect spring event dates.
Pollensa and Alcudia
The north is family and cycling country, with long beaches and quiet coves. I run weekly summer villas here and target riders in spring.
Soller and the Tramuntana
Mountain villages draw hikers and cyclists heading to Sa Calobra. I price spring and autumn as strong seasons rather than treating them as shoulders.

What I check first in Mallorca

  • The ETV licence number, the maximum number of guests it covers and whether the property is a villa or an apartment, because Palma does not allow new tourist rentals in apartment buildings.
  • Pool, air conditioning and parking, since families on week-long villa stays judge homes on those three features before they look closely at the nightly price.
  • Whether the listing is live on FeWo-direkt and priced in the same way as on Airbnb and Vrbo, as German families still book a large share of Mallorca villas there.
My view

Why Trip.com is not another Booking.com

Trip.com is the leading channel for Chinese outbound travel, and its guests book differently, expect different services and reward different signals. If your market receives these visitors, a profile written for them is a separate piece of work, not a translation.

Pricing playbook

5 pricing moves, and 3 mistakes, in Mallorca

  1. 1

Run villas on weekly stays with fixed turnover days.

  2. 2

Price July and August as the top weeks.

  3. 3

Target cyclists in April and May with shorter stays and bike storage.

  4. 4

List on FeWo-direkt for German guests.

  5. 5

    Keep ETV licence numbers visible.

Mistakes I fix in Mallorca

  • Summer weeks broken by short stays.
  • Cycling season ignored.
  • Unlicensed apartment rentals in Palma.
Who it is for

When Trip.com optimization for hotels makes sense in Mallorca

A new Trip.com listing

You have just connected Trip.com and want it to rank and convert from the first weeks, not after months of guessing.

Views but few bookings

Visibility looks fine and conversion does not, which usually means content, photos or rate plans on Trip.com.

Commission without much return

You pay Trip.com commission and its share of bookings is small next to your other channels.

A portfolio with uneven quality

Some listings are polished on Trip.com and others were never finished, and nobody owns the standard.

How it works

From first message to results in Mallorca

  1. 01

    Tell me which listings

Send me the Trip.com listing or property links and your channel manager. I check how the property ranks and reads today before we speak.

  2. 02

    I audit it

A scorecard for Trip.com: content, photos, rates and promotions, policies and reviews, with every fix ranked by impact.

  3. 03

    We fix it together

I make the changes live on Zoom in your Trip.com account or through your channel manager, and explain each one so you can maintain it.

Step 4

I check it again

About 30 days later I look at impressions, conversion and booking share on Trip.com and adjust what the numbers say to adjust.
